A Stronger Nation Begins With A Pledge
The Port Antonio Primary School was established in 1957 and is currently home to over seven hundred and fifty (750) students. These students are guided by 34 members of the academic staff inclusive of Principal, Vice Principal, Guidance Counsellors, and teachers as well as ten (10) ancillary staff members.
Currently, the school operates a three shift system (full day - Grades 4 & 6, morning and afternoon shifts) and hope to phase out the shift system by 2019. However, additional classrooms are needed to make this a reality.
All students are able to participate in extra/co-curricular activities such as: 4H, Boys Scout, Early Act, Reading and Spelling, Mathematics, Sports, to name a few. The school's infrastructure is inadequate to suit the demands of the dynamic era in which it serves. The school lacks a well equipped computer laboratory, offices for Vice Principals, accommodation for specialist teachers- Spanish and Physical Education, general assembly area for students, among others.
